The Morning Loop Method
three steps, one minute.

Listen, shadow, read — shown here with one real sentence from a Tokyo morning diary. No textbook, no drills, no notebook.

01 The sentence

One real morning sentence

Not a sampleThis is the actual opening line of the diary from July 8 — word for word, the same line that went out on Spotify and YouTube.

From the morning diary — きょうの いちぶん
最近ハマっているのは、ゆで卵です。
さいきんはまっているのは、ゆでたまごです。
Lately I have been hooked on boiled eggs.

02 The loop

Now run it, step by step

ExampleAs an example, we have taken one sentence from Diary #183. Let us listen to it — try it below.

1Listenきく

Listen twice. Do not read anything.

Press Try Listen and let the sentence go past you twice with your eyes off the screen. You are not trying to understand it yet — you are only letting the shape of it go by.

What you hear
The real line, at real speed — press it twice.

Why it worksReading first makes you hear the letters instead of the language. Listening with nothing to read lets your ear catch the rhythm — and rhythm is what makes a sentence stick.

2Shadowまねる

Say it out loud, one chunk at a time.

Play it again and speak along, half a beat behind. Never chase the whole sentence — take it in three short pieces. Copy her speed, not your own.

How the sentence breaks
最近さいきん · ハマっているのははまっているのは · ゆで卵です。ゆでたまごです。

Why it worksYour mouth learns faster than your memory. Saying a real sentence at native speed teaches your tongue the joins between words — the exact place where textbook Japanese falls apart in a real conversation.

3Readよむ

Only now, look at the words.

Read the line once in kanji, once in hiragana, and check just the two words you could not catch. Two is the limit. Anything more and tomorrow morning stops feeling easy.

What you look up
最近ハマっているのは、ゆで卵です。
さいきんはまっているのは、ゆでたまごです。
ハマるはまるto get hooked on
ゆで卵ゆでたまごboiled egg

Why it worksBy the time you read it, you already know how the sentence sounds — so the kanji lands on top of a memory instead of becoming one more thing to memorize. That is why it survives to next week.

Your whole morning practice

Every morning starts here — one minute a day, and that’s the whole method.

Tomorrow’s sentence is already written.
Here are your first seven.
