Catching up with an old friend reminded me how each of my friends plays a different role — one I relate to, one I laugh with, one who steadily opens new paths. Feeling blessed by them all, I wondered if I give back something good in return.

最近、久しぶりの友達と会って、たくさんおしゃべりをしてきました。その友達と会うのは数ヶ月に1回くらいですが、私にとって、とても大切な存在なんです。考えてみると不思議なことに、私の友達は、みんな全く違う生き方や考え方をしていて、私にとっての役割も違うんです。

さいきん、ひさしぶりの ともだちと あって、たくさん おしゃべりを してきました。その ともだちと あうのは すうかげつに いっかいくらいですが、わたしにとって とても たいせつな そんざいなんです。かんがえてみると、ふしぎなことに、わたしの ともだちは みんな まったくちがう いきかたや かんがえかたを していて、わたしにとっての やくわりも ちがうんです。
