Today’s story きょうの あらすじ

On my way home I went to Shimbashi Station to buy disinfectant solution for my contact lenses. Shimbashi is a town of drinking spots, a place for older men, but today a festival was on. Stalls of cotton candy, candied apples, grilled squid and beer lined the street, and it was wonderfully lively. Children in jinbei, the summer robes made for kids, sat at the roadside with sweets and toys from the stalls. I grew up in the countryside, not in a big city, so finding such a scene in the middle of one left me feeling warm.
