I have a chronic condition, so there is a doctor who has been seeing me for more than twenty years. Today was my check-up, which comes once every two months, so I went to his hospital. While I listened to him talk, I found myself looking at his hair, which has turned completely white. It used to be jet black, and somewhere along the way it went white. His hospital keeps growing larger, while his hair has been gathering grey a little at a time until now it is white all over. Which means that I have grown that much older too. Lately I tire far more easily than before, so as I looked at his white hair I took a fresh look at my own age and my own strength.
