Late Flight, Then Traffic in Osaka

Today’s story きょうの あらすじ

Today I came to Osaka on a business trip that started this morning. My home in Tokyo is close to the airport, and flying lets me collect airline miles, so I always take the plane. This morning too, as usual, I left home with plenty of time to spare and headed to the airport. When I got to the airport, the flight was delayed, and the departure had been pushed back 15 minutes from the schedule. But since I had left with plenty of time, I thought 15 minutes or so would be fine. However, when I arrived in Osaka and tried to take the bus from the airport to Osaka Station, I was told that, to my surprise, the expressway was jammed because of an accident. A trip that usually takes 20 minutes ended up taking a whole 50 minutes. I was really on edge, worried that I might be late for the meeting with the client. So a flight delay and a traffic jam from an accident really can happen together, can't they? Anyway, I'm glad I made it to the meeting safely and on time.
