Today’s story きょうの あらすじ

I'm tall, so my feet are on the larger side too. In my twenties, women's shoes were only sold up to about 24.5 cm, and I wore pumps in that size. After I turned 50, COVID came along, and my everyday shoes changed to sneakers. Around that time I started machine Pilates, and I found out that the shape of my feet was throwing off my balance when standing. I'm being taught how to walk so that I push off the ground with all five toes. Then my feet got bigger and bigger, and now they're 25.5 to 26 cm. Even I'm surprised by it. I think that back then, I must have been making my feet fit into small shoes. "What a cruel thing I've been doing to my feet," I think, and I regret it now, late as it is. From now on, I want to choose shoes that fit my feet and that I can walk in comfortably.
